Campaign for sufficient budget allocation to poor

HYDERABAD: The United Forum of People’s Organisations has decided to launch a series of agitations to mount pressure on the government to make sufficient allocations to health, housing, education and other key sectors in the next budget.

The forum will organise a state-wide campaign from February 10.

The forum comprises representatives of CPI (M)’s frontal organisations including Centre of Indian Trade Unions, Agriculture Labour Union and All India Democratic Women’s Association as its members.

Addressing a press conference here Sunday, AP Agriculture Labour Union general secretary B. Venkat and others said seminars would be organised at district and State-levels while rallies and dharnas would be staged as part of the campaign.

The campaign would end with ‘Chalo Hyderabad’, a massive public meeting in the State Capital, on March 17.
