Engineer found murdered in his car

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: A 28-year-old assistant manager with a software firm was found murdered under highly mysterious circumstances inside his Maruti 800 car on National Highway-24 near Mandawli on Sunday. The police suspect it to be a case of personal enmity.

According to the police, the incident came to light around 10 a.m. when a passer-by noticed a man bleeding from the mouth lying inside the car near a petrol pump adjoining Mayur Vihar Phase-II and called up the police. The police found a visiting card among his belongings that revealed his identity as Akash Saxena, an engineer working as an assistant manager with a company in the Patparganj Industrial Area.

No firearm found

Subsequently the company officials were contacted who in turn informed Akash’s father Vijendra Saxena about the murder. Preliminary investigations revealed that Akash had a puncture mark on the temple, which could be a bullet injury. But no firearm was found inside the car. His two front teeth were broken and he had some injury on the forehead also.

His belongings – purse, chain, ring and two mobile phones -- were however found inside the vehicle, suggesting that robbery could not have been the motive for his murder. Enquiries revealed that Akash had left the office on Saturday around 6 p.m., after which he went to some place along with his colleague. He then left for home, but never reached. His father is a supervisor with the New Delhi Municipal Council and lives on Baba Kharak Singh Marg.

‘Personal enmity’

Akash’s family told the police that he was to get married in a week to a girl from Saharanpur. The police suspect it to be a case of personal enmity. “However, we are investigating all possible angles at present,” said a police officer, adding that the post-mortem report would reveal the cause of death. The police are also screening calls made from and to the mobile phones of Akash to get a clue to the murder.
