Protest against rising prices of steel

Ludhiana: Industry bodies on Sunday said that they would hold protests here tomorrow against the Government’s failure to “control” rising steel prices.

United Cycle Parts and Manufacturers Association general secretary Varinder Kapoor said the decision was taken at a joint meeting of the office bearers of “50 industry organisations”.

Mr. Kapoor claimed steel prices had witnessed an increase of about Rs 7,000 per metric tonne within a month. He demanded the government constitute a Regulatory Steel Commission to control prices.
