MALAPPURAM: A Fiqh meeting held at Changaramkulam on Sunday as part of the 7th State conference of the Kerala Nadvathul Mujahideen (KNM) called upon the believers to return to the path shown by Prophet Mohammed and stick to consensus in matters of Shariat dispute. Hadith studies should be given importance, the meeting said. Moulana Asgar Ali Mahdi Assalafi, general secretary of the All India Ahle Hadith, inaugurated the Fiqh conference. Mujahid leader P.P. Unneenkutty Moulavi presided over the function. Congress leader M.I. Shanavaz was the chief guest on the occasion. Former Minister M.M. Hassan offered felicitations. Journalist K.M. Roy gave away the prizes to the winners of an essay competition held for non-Muslims. A family conference held on Sunday cautioned the Muslim community against the nefarious effects of the excesses in visual media. The meeting warned that unbridled access to the visual media was partly responsible for promoting sexual promiscuity in society. Creating awareness about the importance of having solid family ties has become the need of the hour, the meeting said. Sa’ad Ibinu Abdulla Sa’ad Al-Areefi, Salafi scholar from Saudi Arabia, inaugurated the family conference. Abdurahman Randathani, MLA, was the chief guest on the occasion. A media seminar held as part of the Mujahid meet on Sunday called upon the mass media to support the fight against terrorism and communalism. It also exhorted the people not to encourage deliberate attempts to tarnish the image of Islam. Vail Al Hasavi, managing editor of the Al-Furqaan, Kuwait, inaugurated the seminar. Sebastian Paul, MP; K.M. Roy, and M.I. Shanavaz spoke. A students meet held on Sunday pointed out that the delay in the university examinations and results in Kerala would endanger the future of students who opted for higher education in the neighbouring States. Ibrahim Adoor, Registrar of Mysore University, inaugurated the meet.
