CHANDIGARH: The people of Punjab and Haryana on Sunday got relief from the severe cold wave, which had gripped the region over the past three weeks, as minimum temperatures witnessed an increase. Several places in the two States also received rain, thus ending the long dry spell. Karnal in Haryana saw the minimum rise to 9.6 degrees Celsius while Hisar recorded a low of 6.8 C. Narnaul, which had been bitterly cold during the past few weeks, registered a low of 8 degrees while the minimum at Ambala settled at 4.4 degrees, the Meteorological Department said here. Chandigarh received light showers and the low here rose by two degrees since yesterday to settle at 4 degrees, three below normal. Ludhiana in Punjab saw the minimum increase to 7.3 degrees. – PTI
