St. Jude’s College triumphs

Dindigul: St. Jude’s College, Thoothur, won the SMBM Trophy with an all-win record in the semifinal round robin league in the second annual State-level inter-collegiate five-a-side football tournament at Dindigul on Saturday.

Jamal Mohamed College, Tiruchi, finished runner-up. It lost only to St. Jude’s College.

St. Jude’s 4 (Fredy 2, Joy, Nelson) bt Jamal Mohamed 0; Sir Theagaraya College, Chennai, 0 drew with GTN Arts College, Dindigul 0; St. Jude’s 4 (Maria Jackson, Joy 3, hat-trick) bt GTN Arts 0; Jamal Mohamed 3 (Ramanan 2, Dhanasekaran) bt Sir Theagaraya 1 (Mohan); Jamal Mohamed 2 (Ramanan 2) bt GTN Arts 1 (Arulanandan); St. Jude’s 1 (Fredy) bt Sir Theagaraya 0.

All-round show

An all round performance by K. Prabu Gandhi (96 runs and four for 34) helped Seeni Bala Cricket Club defeat Kodai Cricket Club, Kodai Road, by 76 runs in the Canara Bank-DDCA second division league at Dindigul on Sunday.

The scores (second division):

Seeni Bala CC 175 for six in 22 overs (K. Prabu Gandhi 96) bt Kodai CC, Kodai Road, 99 in 19 overs (K. Prabu Gandhi four for 34); Eleven Star CC 137 in 27.3 overs lost to PSNA CET 139 for five in 19 overs (Titta 40).

Goalless draw

St. Mary’s Club and PSNA College of Engineering, were locked in a goalless draw in the DDFA ‘A’ division league for SPD Tools Trophy at Dindigul on Sunday.

Narrow win

G.K. Cricket Club beat MET Cricket Club by one wicket in the Tirunelveli DCA first division league at Sankarnagar on Sunday.

The scores:

MET CC 119 in 28.5 overs (Sundaraiah four for 12) lost to GK CC 121 for nine in 22.3 overs (Senthil 40).

SRM in semifinals

SRM Engineering College, Chennai, beat Vel Srinivasa Engineering College, Chennai, 29-23, 29-20 to enter the ball badminton semi-finals in the TIES women’s games meet at Mohamed Sathak College of Engineering ground, Kilakarai, on Sunday.

The results (quarter-finals):

MAM EC, Tiruchi bt Adiyaman EC, Hosur 29-0, 29-0; Karunya University, Kovai bt Thiyagaraja CE, Madurai 21-29, 29-22, 29-25; St. Joseph’s CE, Chennai bt Sri Venkateswara CE, Chennai 29-5, 29-10.
