‘Nada Shankara’ from Friday

Sirsi: “Nada Shankara”, a weeklong music festival, will be held at Bakkal village, 14 km from Sirsi on Vanalli road, from February 8.

The programme is being held to mark the consecration of Satyanatheshwara temple at Bakkal. Artistes of national and international repute will participate in the programme which will start at 6 p.m. every day.

On February 8, there will be Carnatic vocal recital by R.K. Padmanabhan.

There will be “mohan veena” recital by Vishwa Mohan Bhatt and veena recital by Suma Sudhindra on February 9. Pandit Jasraj will present a Hindustani vocal programme on February 10.

On February 11, there will be sarangi recital by Ustad Sultan Khan, tabla recital by Ustad Zakir Hussain, mrudanga by Bhavani Shankar and ghata by Vikku Vinayaka Ram. Singer S.P. Balasubramaniam will perform on February 12.

Yakshagana stalwarts Keremane Shambhu Hegde and Chittani Ramachandra Hegde will be honoured with the title “Yaksha Kala Kesari”.
