DAVANGERE: The Karnataka State Sugarcane Growers’ Association has demanded that the Governor stipulate the price of sugarcane by February 11 and said that if it were not announced, farmers would resort to a “jail bharo” agitation. Speaking to presspersons here on Sunday, president of the association Kuruburu Shanthakumar said that following previous agitations by sugarcane farmers, the Governor had held discussions recently and promised them that their produce would be given a fair price. The executive committee of the Karnataka State Sugarcane Growers’ Association, which met here on Sunday, decided to set February 11 as the deadline for the price announcement.
