BANGALORE: The Bharatiya Janata Party on Sunday promised to put Bangalore on the top of the IT world map if the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) was voted to power. “Bangalore has the capacity to beat Silicon Valley in the U.S. We will do our best to achieve this if the NDA comes to power,” BJP national president Rajnath Singh told a press conference in Bangalore. Asked if the BJP had drawn up any specific plans to implement its promise of putting Bangalore ahead of the Silicon Valley of the U.S., Mr. Singh only said that the party’s IT cell was working on it. He took exception to the delay in holding elections to the Karnataka Legislative Assembly and said people of the State were watching all the developments. The BJP was of the firm view that elections should be held before May 28. Claiming that people of Karnataka were waiting to avenge the political betrayal suffered by the BJP, he said the party was on the threshold of forming the government in the State as and when the polls were held. Later, addressing a small group of party office bearers and leaders, Mr. Singh stressed the need for working unitedly. He said the party State unit had formed booth-level committees in 70 per cent of the areas so far. This figure was likely to touch 90 per cent in about a month. Mr. Singh also interacted with the booth-level workers at Avalahally near Yelahanka and addressed a public gathering. He called upon the booth-level workers to strive for installing senior leader B. S. Yeddyurappa as the next Chief Minister of the State.
