Citizen friendly GHMC

The residents of Durganagar Colony, Punjagutta are really grateful to the GHMC and the Welfare association for the keen interest taken over the last few years to provide a beautiful park, laying of cement Roads, and improving storm water drainage system Of late, vehicular traffic has increased and the lack of pavements is causing hardship. I am sure the GHMC would provide this facility.

Make city roads encroachment-free

The GHMC is taking up road-widening on a massive scale spending crores of rupees to ease traffic congestion. But the purpose is not being served as the expanded areas are often are being occupied by hawkers and other pretty vendors and also the travel agencies to park their vehicles. GHMC commissioner came across many such encroachments right in front of the S. R. Nagar police station and many other important junctions. Annoyed by the obstructions, he instructed the Additional Commissioner (Health and Sanitation) to issue notices to the travel agencies and others who have parked their vehicles on the main roads. Hope the official concerned will take prompt action to free the widened portions of the roads to ensure smooth flow of traffic.

Quick response

I wish to acknowledge and appreciate the quick response from Indian Oil Corporation authorities and the proprietor of Navratna Enterprises (dealer for Indane) to my letter on the above subject which appeared on 28th January 2008 in the Readers’ Mail columns of The Hindu. Both of them suggested that I telephone 1260, which is 24-hours service and assured me that I will not have any problem in the future. I thank them for their prompt reaction andhelp.
