Gatorade pacers at MRF Pace Foundation

Chennai: The Dennis Lillee camp of the Gatorade Pacers 2008 initiative commenced this week for four out of the 10 fast bowlers selected from eight States across the country. Shardu Thakur (Mumbai), Vishal Singh (Delhi), Magizhendan (Karnataka) and Deepak Chaudhry (Haryana) had a video analysis session with the Aussie pace great Lillee and MRF Pace Foundation head coach T.A. Sekar at the MRF Pace Foundation here on Sunday.

The camp will go on for three weeks.

“We are focussing on better efficiency. Drastic changes might not happen, but it’s possible to notice very good improvements in three weeks, and based on their potential and the progress they make, they might be inducted into the Pace Foundation,” Sekar said.

The video session involved technical analysis of their actions, and the work that was needed to be done around them.

“We are not looking to change their natural bowling actions, but just make a few adjustments for better efficiency and balance so they go away as much better bowlers. It’s up to them to work hard and make the best of it,” said Lillee.

The remaining six bowlers will take part in the camp in June. — Sports Reporter
