Union Minister’s statement incorrect: CPI(M)

Special Correspondent

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Communist Party of India (Marxist) district unit has taken exception to the statement by Union Law Minister H.R. Bhardwaj that the Chief Justice’s sanction is needed for setting up a High Court Bench in the capital.

The Minister has forgotten the fact that High Court Benches were set up in Madurai in Tamil Nadu and Hubli in Karnataka, CPI(M) district secretary Kadakampalli Surendran said.

He alleged that the main hurdle in establishing the Bench was the policy of double standard adopted by the UPA government at the Centre and the Congress party in the State.
