Grand parent! A. Arumbayi Ammal (right) received special recognition in Grand Parents’ Day at Golden Gates Matriculation Higher Secondary School in Salem (and right) a programme on stress management organised at Vivekananda Higher Secondary School at Pandamangalam in Namakkal district. Competitions, fun games and cultural programmes marked the Grand Parents’ Day celebrations organised by Golden Gates Matriculation Higher Secondary School in Salem. The school conducted competitions in rangoli, cookery, and suduko for the grand parents of students. A pattimandram and sporting events including tennis, table tennis and cricket were organised. The winners were awarded prizes. Cultural programmes inc luding dance marked the event. A 102-year-old woman, A. Arumbayi Ammal, was given a special award during the event. Shantha Soundarajan gave away the awards. School correspondent Meena Sethu and principal Kanchana were present. Republic DayKongunadu Matriculation Higher Secondary School at Velagoundampatti in Namakkal district, celebrated Republic Day. Sub Inspector of Police S. Mumtaj hoisted the Tricolour. Students of four houses of the school took out a march. Cultural events marked the celebrations. PuthanarvuVivekananda Higher Secondary School, Pandamangalam in Namakkal district, and Sri Trust organised a motivation programme, ‘Puthandil Puthunarvu.’ Tiruchi All India Radio Programme Executive Srirangam R. Mural was the resource person. He explained various techniques to overcome stress and perform better in examinations. School Correspondent R. Subramaniam, Headmaster A.V. Palanisamy and Trust Director Subramania Bharathi spoke. Muthuraj, a physically challenged a rtist, performed a mime show. ProcessionStudents of Jay Matriculation Higher Secondary School in Vaikkalpattarai in Salem, took out a procession as a part of Republic Day celebrations. Students stressed the need for promoting national integrity and communal harmony during the procession. Flag hoistedBharathi Vidhyalaya Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Gobichettipalayam, celebrated the Republic Day with pomp and gaiety. A release from the School says Correspondent and Principal P. R. Velumani hoisted the National Flag, which was followed by a march past and drill by students. The school’s music team played ‘Vande Mataram,’ ‘Thikukul Ettum,’ and ’Sare Jaha Se Achcha’ on the keyboard. The event was followed by prize distribution by Vice-Principal Amutham Velumani. Staff felicitatedA.E.T. Matriculation Higher Secondary School in Erode recently honoured its staff N. Kumar, working as junior assistant. A release from the school says Mr. Kumar, interested in social work, volunteered to assist the traffic police and has been assisting them for the last several years. He serves as Traffic Warden on the eve of festivals, public functions, political rallies, etc. In recognition of his services the District Collector, T. Udhayachandran, honoured him with the ‘Best Traffic Warden’ award on Republic Day and the School also felicitated him. S. Ramesh in Salem and Karthik Madhavan in Erode
