Mohan’s century in vain

Udhagamandalam: A well-knit 181 by C. Mohan went in vain as Fern Hill Youngsters went down by six wickets to Youngstars Cricket Club in the Canara Bank-NDCA ‘A’ division league for the K-Lite Rolling Trophy at the HPF grounds here on Sunday.

The scores: Fern Hill YSC 304 (C. Mohan 181) lost to Youngstars 305 for four in 31 overs (K. Darshan 138 not out, B. Sathyamurthy 55, B. Mubarak 50); Nilgiris CC 213 for nine in 40 overs bt Union Powers CC 72 (A. R. Feroze four for eight).

Jayendra in final

At Coimbatore, Sri Jayendra Saraswathi Maha Vidyalaya defeated Ramakrishna MHSS 93 runs and entered the final of the CDCA under-15 inter-school cricket tournament for the Giridhari Prasad Trophy at the Forest College grounds on Monday.

The scores: Semifinals: Sri Jayendra Saraswathi 162 for five in 25 overs (Mohan Prasad 48) bt Ramakrishna MHSS 69 in 20.2 overs (Gokul four for 26). Quarterfinal: Corpn. BHSS (Siddhapudur) 73 in 17.5 overs lost to RKS Kalvi Nilayam HSS 74 for six in 11.5 overs.

Easy for Suryabala

Suryabala Cricket Club posted a 90-run win over Arumugam XI Patriots CC in the Canara Bank-CDCA second division league for the Unidrive Line Trophy at the TNAU grounds on Sunday.

The scores:

Suryabala CC 294 for six in 50 overs (Kathirvel 62, Manikandan 66, Arumugapandi 51, Rajaram 44) bt Arumugam XI Patriots CC 204 in 40.5 overs (S. Mayurnath 43, Rajaram four 43); LMCC 170 in 44.5 overs (Pon Dinesh 44) lost to Tirupur Textiles RC 172 for seven in 45.5 overs (Basheer Mohd. 56 not out); Best VP XI 85 in 29.3 overs lost to Wings CC 86 for seven in 29.3 overs (Kamaraj four for 25).
