Hubli-Dharwad
HUBLI: Pralhad Joshi, Dharwad North MP, has stressed the need for taking note of the activities of the alleged terrorist outfits in Dharwad district and other parts of the State. He was speaking after inaugurating a three-day exhibition of photographs on the atrocities committed by terrorists, organised by the Foundation Against Continued Terrorism (FACT) and Hindu Janajagruti Samiti at Sai Mandir near Court Circle here on Sunday. “It is alarming to note that terrorist outfits are recruiting poor students by misguiding them in the name of religion. The Union and State governments should take steps to curb their activities,” he said. Apart from taking action against those spreading the message of terror and those helping them, steps should also be taken to strengthen the intelligence network, he said. Mr. Joshi was critical of some police officials who, he said, were trying to play down the issue to appease a particular section of people. “At least now, the police and the intelligence wings should eschew their laid back attitude and swing into action. A comprehensive inquiry into the issue should be taken up. People should keep track of the happenings around their neighbourhood,” he said. Chidrupananda Saraswati Swamiji of Arsha Vidyapeeth, Aravin Kamat of the samiti, and Ramesh Bafna were present.
