Keep first aid box

While I was getting into a private bus running between Tiruchi and Mannargudi, due to a sharp edge in the bus my finger was injured and it was bleeding.

I asked the conductor a piece of cotton to arrest it. He could not even hear my voice because of the sound system.

Then only I noticed there was no first aid box in the bus, but it had two sets of good quality television sets and a DVD to the play the movie.

I wish the bus owners to take necessary steps to keep the first aid boxes, which are needed in emergency in their buses in addition to the entertainment they are providing.

Provide water on platform

Last week I was travelling from Chennai to Thanjavur by the Rockfort Express. With heavy luggage and with my aged parents I was waiting on the platform number 4 for Tiruvarur Passenger.

My parents wanted water and I searched for it on the platform and saw only one tap but no water.

Passengers are compelled to buy water bottle in the shop on the platform.

I request the railway authorities to provide these basic amenities forthwith.

Re-lay road

Salt Line Road of Adirampattinam connects Pillaimar Street and NH-ECR. The road belongs to the Salt Department of the Central Government and it has been neglected over the years.

As a result, the road has been eroded by rainwater and lost its original shape. Now we cannot ride even a two-wheeler on this road. There is a possibility of fatal accidents.

In this area, two major central government offices, viz. the BSNL Telecom Exchange and the Indian Meteorological Research Station are situated. Therefore, the people living on the low-lying area on both sides of the road, the employees, and the passersby face hardship every day while using the road.

The authorities should repair and re-lay the road.

Display official details

The Government of Tamil Nadu ordered display of boards in all offices with names and addresses of the State and the district vigilance officials with their phone and fax numbers.

Only the Collectorates had obliged and not the other government offices, especially the rural and urban local bodies so far. Though the Right to Information Act was enacted, the urban/rural local bodies had not sincerely notified the names, designations and addresses of the public information and the appellate officials so far.

R.S. Moorthy,

Karur.

Fix uniform fare

The State Express Transport Corporation is confusing the general public by naming Chennai-bound express buses as deluxe, ultra deluxe, super deluxe and ordinary.

The fares are also different varying from Rs.98 to Rs.155. But there is no extra facilities provided in the buses. The running time is also the same between 7 and 8 hours. Hence, I request the transport authorities to fix the fares uniformly without confusing the commuters.

K. Santhanam,

Kumbakonam.

Diversion to industries

We would like to know from the Electricity Minister of Tamil Nadu if he directs the electricity meant for us to new industries coming up in Chennai and other industrial areas.

In their eagerness to placate MNCs, Tamil Nadu goes overboard providing land, water and electricity to such industries to the detriment of basic electric of the public.

T.M. Renganathan,

Srirangam.
