“Emergency teams will tackle crises”
Staff Reporter
CHENNAI: Creation of an emergency response team within an organisation would help handle crises efficiently, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Mylapore) A.G. Mourya said on Sunday.
He was speaking at a safety programme on disaster management recently organised by the Cybernet - Slash Support (CSS) for its employees, including car drivers.
Tough situation
He said during emergencies, most people, unable to handle the situation, would panic. Having a well-trained team of employees to handle it would help address emergencies better, he said.
He suggested that other organisations should also consider the idea, especially where people worked in multi-storeyed complexes on a round-the-clock basis.
Speaking on road safety, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic Planning) M.S. Subramanian said training car drivers would ensure better road discipline and reduce accidents, as they used the roads at odd hours also. People should be encouraged to use mass transport, as private modes would result in congestion.
