Shyam Group’s integrated steel plant

KOLKATA: Shyam Group of Industries has signed a memorandum of agreement with the West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation, the State’s apex industry promotion agency, for setting up a 1.1 million tonne integrated steel plant and a 1,000 MW captive power plant in the State, Vice-Chairman and Managing Director of the group, B. Bhusan, said.

The project would be implemented by Shyam SEL Ltd., the flagship company of the group. It would need about 1,500 acres and is slated to come up at Jamuria near Asansol in Burdwan district at an investment of Rs. 9,900 crore in phases. The West Bengal Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation will acquire the land.
