Chatra (Jharkhand): A total of 46 per cent polling was registered at the end of the by-poll in Simaria Assembly constituency seat on Monday, official sources said. The polling in the naxal-affected constituency passed off peacefully. Fourteen candidates contested in the by-poll which was held following the death of BJP MLA Upendra Das. Prominent among the candidates are BJP’s Kumar Ujjwal Das, Congress’ Yogendra Baitha and the CPI’s Ram Chandra Ram. Counting of votes will take up on February 7.
