Staff Correspondent

Government to spend Rs. 475 crore in the next 300 days

Four 220 KV sub-stations to be constructed each at Sidhi, Mandideep, Pipariya and Barod

CM has instructed that the transmission system be completed within the fixed time-frame

BHOPAL: To combat the problem of power failures and repeated interruptions, the Madhya Pradesh Government is spending Rs. 475 crore within the next 300 days to consolidate the transmission system with a special focus on rural areas.

First step

As a first step in this direction, Rs. 91 crore is being spent on constructing four 220 KV capacity sub-stations each at Sidhi, Mandideep, Pipariya and Barod. Keeping in view the demand and supply position, 12 new sub-stations of 132 KV capacity are also being set up at Khajuraho, Porsa, Katra, Mauganj, Byohari, Benigaon, Chanderi, Majhgawan, Ghosla, Nainpur, Chhanera and Ghairatganj.

It has also been decided to install additional transformers at 18 existing sub-stations to ensure uninterrupted power supply. A sum of Rs.169 crore would be spent on setting up the new sub-stations and augmenting the existing ones.

Within the 300-day deadline, Rs.214 crore would be spent on extending 400 KV power lines in a 29.4-circuit km area and a net of 220 KV electricity lines in a 577.76-circuit km area.

An official spokesman said that Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan has issued firm instructions that work on the transmission system be completed within the fixed time-frame.
