Dismissal of Maharashtra Government demanded

Protest against attacks on North Indians in Mumbai

NEW DELHI: The Poorvanchal Cell of the Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party staged a demonstration at Jantar Mantar here on Monday in protest against attacks on North Indians in Mumbai.

Movement

Poorvanchal Cell in-charge Surya Bhan Pandey and its president B. D. Pandey warned that if attacks on the people of North India in Mumbai were not stopped immediately the BJP would be compelled to start a movement against Raj Thackeray’s party.

Cell general secretary Poonam Jha Azad, councillor A.K. Singh, Jhuggi Jhonpri Cell president Gopal Jha and several other members of the BJP took part in the demonstration.

Internal security

In a statement, Delhi BJP president Harsh Vardhan demanded dismissal of the Maharashtra Government for its failure to maintain internal security. He also demanded imposition of President’s Rule in Maharashtra.

Dr. Vardhan said only after the provocative statements of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena president Raj Thackeray were the people of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar living in Mumbai and Maharashtra attacked.

“They are being deprived of their livelihood. Shops are being burnt. The Maharashtra Government is silent even after seeing everything. The Union Home Ministry is also completely silent on the issue,” said the BJP president.
