More gurdwaras to come up in Delhi

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Monday said the Delhi Government would play its part in providing land for setting up gurdwaras in new colonies on the demand of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee.

Speaking at the inauguration of a national symposium on “Guru, Granth and Panth” organised at GTB Khalsa College on the North Campus to commemorate the 300th anniversary of ``Guruship to Adi Granth”, Ms. Dikshit said the teachings of Guru Granth Sahib were relevant even today. She described the holy book as a unique spiritual text that sets an example of religious tolerance.

The Chief Minister said as the Centre would release an amount of Rs.800 crore for celebrations across the country, the Delhi Government would provide all possible support in commemorating the 300th anniversary of Guruship to the Adi Granth.
