Ex-Minister to align with Chiranjeevi

Correspondent

VIZIANAGARAM: Former Minister and senior Congress leader Peddinti Jaganmohana Rao from Bobbili said he would join Chiranjeevi, if the film actor launched a party as an alternative to the Congress and TDP.

Talking to correspondents here on Monday, Dr. Peddinti regretted that he had been neglected by the Congress party which failed to recognise his services.

He would quit the ruling party once Mr. Chiranjeevi announced his political party.

He said that the backward classes received a raw deal in the Congress government.

He condemned the attack on Lok Sabha member Ch. Harirama Jogaiah by Congress workers. He said that stifling the voice of critics does not augur well in a democracy and felt that if the trend was allowed to continue, the power would automatically flow into the hands of autocrats.

Dr. Peddinti, who contested as a rebel in the election to Bobbili Parliamentary constituency in 2004, was suspended from the Congress. The suspension, however, was revoked in 2006.
