CHANDIGARH: Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Monday assured farmers that the price of sugarcane for the next crushing season of 2008-09 would be increased by Rs.8 or 10 per quintal. In a statement here, Mr. Hooda said this decision had been taken to keep the returns from the crop at par with other alternatives of wheat and paddy combinations for which prices have gone up sharply for the next year. He said that there would be no adverse impact on the financial health of sugar mills.
