SHIMLA: The entire hill State of Himachal Pradesh experienced a bright and sunny day on Monday after the season’s major snowfall on Sunday. (However, according to a PTI report, cold wave condition continued to prevail in tribal valleys with many areas recording sub-zero temperature. The night temperature in Shimla dipped to 0.4 degree Celsius in comparison to minus 1.2 degree Celsius recorded on Sunday, the Met department said.) There were no reports of rain or snow from anywhere in the State despite black clouds hovering all over the sky in the evening. Most of the blocked roads were opened during the day with the help of local people. Movement of light vehicles has been allowed up to the hill resort of Kufri, about 16 km from here, and efforts were on to allow vehicles bound for Narkanda, Chopal, Jubbal-Kotkhai and Rohru, and other tribal areas. Some passengers of two Himachal Roadways buses got stranded midway to Kinnaur on Sunday due to heavy snowfall. They had to walk more than 15 km to reach the nearest village in the morning. The day temperatures rose appreciably to nine degrees in Shimla, 17.8 at Sundernagar, 4.2 at Kalpa and 14.2 degrees at Dharamsala, while night temperatures in the tribal areas were recorded between minus 15 and minus 25 degrees. The weatherman has forecast cold wave conditions to intensify with night temperatures registering a fall of two to four degrees in the next few days.
