Staff Correspondent

CHAMARAJANAGAR: The President of Kannada Chaluvali Vatal Paksha, Vatal Nagaraj, has urged Governor Rameshwar Thakur to call an all-party leaders’ meeting to discuss the construction of check-dams in the Cauvery basin areas of Karnataka. Addressing presspersons on Monday, he said the Union Government would be issuing an order to implement the Cauvery Tribunal verdict, which was in favour of Tamil Nadu. He called upon the State MPs and Ministers to reject the Cauvery Tribunal verdict and put pressure on the Centre to facilitate Karnataka to construct the check-dams. He said an all-party leaders’ meeting would be called on February 9 to discuss the future course of action. Mr. Nagaraj urged the Government to take up the works of Kabini second stage lift irrigation project and to earmark funds for the development of temples. He said his party would felicitate senior journalist Krishna Vattam at his residence on February 4.
