Party not averse to forging alliance with Chiru

Staff Reporter

Kakinada: Rajyadhikara party, the political outfit of Backward Classes (BCs) in Andhra Pradesh, comprising 94 sub-castes, is not averse to forging electoral understanding with the party to be flouted by actor Chiranjeevi, who has reportedly committed himself to political empowerment of the BCs. The CPI and Lok Satta have made statements that they would tie up with Chiranjeevi’s party in the interest of the BCs and the CPM’s stand on the issue is awaited, said V.G.R. Naragoni, the President of Rajyadhikara party and BC Ikya Sangharshana Samiti. Speaking to media persons here on Monday, Naragoni said it has been a long-pending demand, to provide 50 per cent reservation for BCs in the Parliament and State Legislatures but none of the major parties translated their promises into reality. However, the TDP has recently assured the BCs that it would implement 33 per cent reservation for them in the State Assembly. All other parties except the Congress have responded positively to the demand.
