TTD awareness meet on ‘kalyanamastu’ today

Kakinada: The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) is organising an awareness meeting on its programme of mass marriages ‘Kalyanamastu’, at the TTD Kalyanamandapam here tomorrow (February 5) at 10 a.m. TTD Trust Board chairman B. Karunakar Reddy will participate as the chief guest, according to TTD Special Officer for marriages R. Appa Rao.
Auspicious day
Rao has stated in a press release that March 9, 2008 has been fixed as the auspicious day for performing the marriages between 9.20 a.m and 9.35 a.m under the third phase of ‘Kalyanamastu’. A total of 12,771 marriages took place in the first and second phases (4,658 and 8,113) on February 22 and August 26 last year.
Brides and bridegrooms aged between 18 and 21 can get married in ‘Kalyanamastu’ by giving self-declarations along with the prescribed applications for registration.
Electors’ photo identity cards, ration cards or other statutory documents have to be attached to the applications as identity proofs. Besides, the couples should affirm their faith in Hindu Dharma and its traditions.
