Sparks fly over NTR statue issue

Telugu Desam Party (TDP) corporators staged a walk-out from the meeting of the general body of the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) on Monday in protest against the ‘lukewarm’ response from the ruling Congress to their proposal to install a statue of former Chief Minister N. T. Rama Rao at ODA Colony in Ajith Singh Nagar. TDP corporator Gogula Ramana Rao moved a resolution proposing the installation of the statue at Dabakotlu centre in a piece of land belonging to the VMC.
