Ruksana Parveen, a resident of Baby Nagar Extension, Velachery, and employee of PWD, Chepauk: It is a real boon for women commuters, as it has cut short the travel time as well as the travel cost. However, a lot needs to be done on the safety front and in terms of commuter facilities, especially at Perungudi Railway Station. The railway station lacks adequate lighting and commuters have to climb the steps at night with no security personnel. The road leading to the railway station also lacks streetlights.”
