‘Leprosy will remain priority’

HYDERABAD: The curtains came down on the six-day 17th International Leprosy Congress here on Monday with Health Minister Sambani Chandrasekhar declaring that leprosy would remain a priority area for the ministry.

He said that the teachings of Mahatma Gandhi were being adopted by the State, the Centre and the NGOs engaged in leprosy work.

The Minister said that the country had now achieved the leprosy elimination level on a national average and was working towards its total eradication.
