SAYING IT WITH FLOWERS: Children of Army Public School welcoming guests at the 27th annual sports meet and annual prize distribution function. BANGALORE: MES KKPS, Vidyaranyapura, organised an exhibition at the school recently. Students from Class I to VII displayed models and projects in science, social sciences, environment, literature and mathematics. The solar system, a working model of windmills, the Great Wall of China, jewellery of ancient civilisations, and an imaginative tortoise made out of coconut shells were all part of the exhibition. Children enthusiastically conducted experiments in chemistry and physics and explained in detail to the visitors. While the walls of the classrooms were decked with colourful and informative charts, paintings and embroidered works adorned the craft room. Truly, it was creative freedom at its best. Sports meetArmy Public School held its 27th annual sports meet and annual prize distribution function recently. Brigadier Clement Samuel, chairman of the school management committee, was chief guest. He told the students to participate with true sportsman’s spirit and grow into dynamic personalities. Happy mind in a healthy body was the main aim of the school, he said. The events were interspersed with colourful displays by the children. The school band held the audience spellbound with its performance. General proficiency prizes were distributed and students who had brought laurels to the school in the CBSE Board exams were felicitated on the occasion. Annual daySchoenstatt St. Mary’s School, Tumkur Road, celebrated its annual day recently. T.M. Kumar, Director, Primary Education, was chief guest. N. Rajashekar, Regional General Manager of The Hindu, Bangalore, and K. S. Kempaiah, Block Education Officer, were the guests of honour. Addressing the students, Mr. Kumar stressed the need for parents to view their children from a different perspective, be more loving and caring, spend time with them and be sensitive to their needs. He also spoke of the responsibilities of the students. Mr. Rajashekar highlighted how newspapers help develop an individual’s personality and said that they are a window to the world. The guests then distributed prizes to students. Headmistress Sr. Joyce said that the excitement in the children was building up over the week. Children then presented the cultural programme, which included an African tribal dance and a skit on Dhruva. THE HINDU NIE TEAM
