Minister distributes cash awards, certificates to cadets, officers

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Minister for Education and Culture M.A.Baby on Monday hailed the National Cadet Corps (NCC) for its role in character formation of students and creating better citizens.

He was addressing a meeting organised here to honour the NCC contingent of Kerala and Lakshadweep NCC Directorate, which bagged the sixth position at the All India Republic Day camp in New Delhi.

The contingent, which included 105 NCC cadets, officers and associate NCC officers, successfully participated in the Raj Path March and the Prime Minister’s Rally during the Republic Day parade.

The Minister distributed cash awards and certificates to the members of the contingent. Colonel Ramesh, commander of the Kozhikode group, received the inter-group champions banner.

The cadets who participated in the national-level competitions in group dance, cultural programmes and exhibition on national integration won the golf medal.

They also bagged the second position in flag area description and India Corner.

NCC Deputy Director-General Brigadier O.I. James presided over the function. Director Colonel Mohandas and group commanders also participated.
