Two-year RI for power thieves

NEW DELHI: A special electricity court in Rohini here has sentenced two power thieves to two years’ rigorous imprisonment.

According to an NDPL power distribution company official, Mukesh Kumar and Ravi Kumar of Mungeshpur had tampered with the meter and were manipulating the recorded consumption. They had also intentionally burnt the meter to avoid detection, the official alleged. The theft assessment by NDPL amounted to Rs.11,65,000, while the special court also imposed a civil liability of Rs.11,00,000 on the accused.
