Police studying victim’s mobile records to get further leads

NEW DELHI: Post-mortem on the body of an assistant manager with a software firm who was found dead under mysterious circumstances inside his Maruti-800 car on National Highway-24 at Mandawli in East Delhi on Sunday has confirmed that he was shot from close range.

The bullet had hit the victim, Akash Saxena, in the head. The police suspect that a country-made firearm was used to shoot him and someone close to him could be involved in his murder.

Akash’s body was found inside his car near Mayur Vihar Phase-II on Sunday morning. His belongings were in the vehicle, suggesting that robbery was not the motive. Enquiries so far have revealed that on Saturday evening he had left his Patparganj Industrial Area office along with two colleagues.

While one of the colleagues left for home around 6-30 p.m., the other stayed on with Akash till 8 p.m. The police are trying to find out who Akash met after that.

It is learnt that according to the post-mortem report Akash was killed around 11 p.m. The police are closely studying his mobile phone records to get a clue to the identity of the person behind the murder.
