Wadiyar had written to Sonia Gandhi criticising Siddaramaiah The ex-Deputy Chief Minister had been blamed for party’s poor show in local body polls MYSORE: The remarks of Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar, scion of the Mysore royal family and former MP, against the former Deputy Chief Minister Siddaramaiah have drawn flak from AHINDA. Addressing presspersons here in Mysore on Monday, president of AHINDA’s youth wing M. Appanna said it was unfair of Mr. Wadiyar to hold Mr. Siddaramaiah responsible for the Congress’s performance in the urban local bodies polls in the region. Mr. Appanna was reacting to the eight-page letter sent by Mr. Wadiyar to Congress president Sonia Gandhi questioning the ability of Mr. Siddaramaiah to strengthen the party and virtually accusing him of joining the party for “selfish gains”. “Where was Mr. Wadiyar when the elections were being held?” Mr. Appanna said. The AHINDA leader chose to recall the results of 2004 Mysore Lok Sabha election result when Mr. Wadiyar, as a Congress candidate, was pushed to the third position. “He lost in seven out of eight Assembly constituencies falling in the Mysore Lok Sabha constituency. Who would Mr. Wadiyar hold responsible for his humiliating defeat. Neither Mr. Siddaramaiah nor the former Union Minister V. Srinivas Prasad was in the Congress then,” he pointed out. Mr. Appanna also suspected “unseen” hands behind Mr. Wadiyar’s letter to the Congress high command.
