Krishnagiri: Members of the Tamil Nadu Government Employees Association (TNGEA) staged a dharna in front of the Collectorate here on Tuesday urging the Union Government to abolish the new pension scheme and increase the interest rate of General Provident Fund (GPF).
The members asked the Government to take steps to fill up vacancies in all departments on a war footing.
It should regularise the casual and contingent employees and lift the ban on recruitment in the existing vacancies.
The Government should also merge 50 per cent of Dearness allowance with the basic pay of employees.
The right to strike should not be questioned. Steps should be taken to strengthen the Public Distribution System they added. District secretary TNGEA R. Durai led the dharna.
