HYDERABAD: The EAMCET-2008 committee that met on Tuesday took some crucial decisions like allowing the Bi.P.C students to take admission in B.Tech (Biotechnology) and also allowing submission of application forms just one day before the examination with heavy penal charges. The EAMCET-2008 Chairman and JNTU Vice-Chancellor K. Rajagopal said that Bi.P.C students, however, need to take a bridge course in Mathematics to become eligible for Biotechnology course. The Board of Intermediate Education (BIE) will design and conduct the course before the counselling schedule begins. He said the Committee also discussed and agreed in favour of allowing students to submit their forms just one day before the EAMCET that would be held on May 8, 2008. However, they need to pay penal charges of Rs. 10,000. Prof. Rajagopal said the decision of extending the submission date had to be taken given the court directions that students be provided all possible channels to write the test in case they miss out to apply for various reasons. He said the court also observed that authorities can charge additional money as they need to make arrangements at the last hour. This year Machilipatnam in Krishna has been added as the 21st regional centre. He said the notification would be issued on February 8 and the sale of applications would begin on February 14 and would continue till March 14. The cost of the form is Rs. 250 and they will be available at designated post offices and eSeva centres. Candidates can also submit the forms online. They need to enter the application form number on the online forms. Last date for receiving application forms at the Convenor’s office without late fee is March 14 and March 27 with a late fee of Rs. 600. Those missing out during this period can submit the forms till May 1 with a late fee of Rs. 5,000 and till May 7 with a late fee of Rs. 10,000. For these candidates the test centre would be allotted only Hyderabad and Secunderabad. Hall-tickets would be issued from April 10 to 17.
