NREGS: Minister lauds administration

Chittoor: Chittoor district is in the forefront in the State in the implementation of National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme and Indira Kranthi Pathakam, Minister for Rural Development, G. Chinna Reddy said. Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday after the completion of the review meeting of DRDA and awareness programme for the members of self help groups he has complemented the district administration for implementing the scheme effectively and efficiently and made the district to stand first in the State.
The district tops for IKP as well of other districts by providing loans to the tune of Rs. 301 crore against the target Rs. 306 crore.. He said that horticulture would be raised on 50,000 hectares of land in the next year against 20, 000 this yearEarlier the minister said that he has inspected a horticulture plantation at Chandragiri and also silt removing programme in the Kaminayana Cheruvu at Doddipalle under NREGS and interacted with the labourers.
