TDP threatens to block National Highway-9
Staff Reporter
Sangareddy: Telugu Desam party has warned to block National highway nine between BHEL and Chiragpalli on February 11 if the Government fails to announce its decision on the sugarcane price.
The party’s Medak unit is demanding Rs. 1,500 per ton of cane and payment of arrears to the tune of Rs. 5 crore by Trident sugar mills of Zaheerabad. A resolution in this regard which was introduced by party’s former Zilla Parishad chairman Narsimha Reddy has been unanimously passed by the general body meeting here on Tuesday. The Party leaders have announced that it would request Sugarcane farmers in the district to park their bullock carts at major centres on the highway and to display the dried sugarcane to protest against the inability of the Government to force the mills for a better price. Party district president Mainampalli Hanmantha Rao announced that a district level SCs meeting would be held in Naraynkhed on February 24.
