ADILABAD: Three persons received minor injuries when Congress and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) workers indulged in stone pelting on each other’s rallies on Tuesday.
While the Congressmen had taken out a rally demanding arrest of a former chairman of Adilabad Agriculture Market Committee A. Bhoja Reddy who is an accused in a case, TDP activists had come out demanding curbing of illegal mining of manganese ore.
The two rallies crossed each other in front of the Municipal office when slogan shouting participants started pelting stones on each other. Due to the Zilla Parishad general body meeting, police was not present in required strength. However, the police dispersed the activists by resorting to a mild lathicharge.
TDP workers then regrouped and marched to the ZP office where Collector Ahmad Nadeem heard their plea for stopping illegal mining of manganese.
