Congress demands statement of accounts TDP members insist on going by the agenda ADILABAD: Heated exchanges took place for the better part of the pre lunch session of the Zilla Parishad general body meeting on Tuesday as Congress and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) members argued over accounts and agenda. The Congress members were demanding a statement on accounts of the local body before the meeting considered the agenda. As soon as the members assembled in the meeting hall Congress Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituency (ZPTC) members led by Subhash, member from Laxmanchanda mandal, vociferously demanded to know the quantum of funds being received by the ZP and where it was being spent. As the Congress members trooped to the podium, the TDP members too joined them and demanded for discussion as per agenda. Adilabad MLA C. Ramchander Reddy intervened at one stage and questioned the propriety of the Congress members’ demand. He said because the funding and expenditure was concerned with the benefit of common man, the members were right in demanding the details of accounts. Ex gratia soughtAs the proceedings according to agenda started towards afternoon, Asifabad MLA (TDP) A. Sridevi and others demanded ex gratia for the persons who were not included in the list of the dead due to fevers in the agency areas. They alleged discrimination in selection of families for grant of ex gratia.
