Chennai Marathon on Sunday
CHENNAI: The SDAT-Hero Ultra Chennai Marathon, carrying prize money of Rs. 325,000 will be flagged off on Sunday at the Anna Samathi (Memorial) in an attempt to spread awareness on making Chennai a greener and pollution-free city.
Competitions will be held in full marathon for men (42.19km), half-marathon for men and women (21km) and 6km run for school boys and girls, corporate run (3km) and special children run (1km). Many National-level runners are expected to participate in the full-marathon.
Speaking at a press conference here on Tuesday, T.P.M. Mohideen Khan, Minister for Sports and Environment, praised Hero Ultra for its role in promoting sports and environment.
Naveen Munjal, CEO, Hero Exports, said: “Hero Ultra is delighted to be associated with a social cause — a run to make Chennai green.” Mrs. Mary Rajathy, GM, Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu (SDAT) also spoke.
Entry forms will be available from February 7 at the Anna Swimming Pool, Marina, Shenoy Nagar Pool and the Nehru Stadium.
