CHENNAI: Mayor M. Subramanian inaugurated work on the compound wall around land that the Chennai Corporation had taken back from encroachers near the Chennai Mofussil Bus Terminus, Koyambedu, on Monday. He had announced earlier that the area would be utilised for a park.

The approximately 3.8 acres will be bound by a compound wall to be constructed at a cost of Rs.28 lakh.

Orders have been issued to complete the work in a month, according to a press release.

Mr. Subramanian said the land would be utilised, keeping in mind the requests of the local residents. A modern park with fountains, walkways and flowering plants would be set up.
