Foreign tourist inflow doubles

Sangareddy: Minister for Information and Public Relations, Tourism and Culture Anam Ramnarayan Reddy said that the number of tourists visiting the State from foreign countries has almost doubled in the last three years. He was addressing a public meeting in Gajwel after inaugurating ‘Haritha’-a wayside amenity built by AP Tourism Development Corporation. He said that 6.9 lakh foreigners have visited the State and the number could swell if more facilities were provided to attract them to the State. He said, so far 12 wayside motels like ‘Haritha’ have been sanctioned and eight of them are nearing completion.
Minister for Major Industries and Sugar J.Geetha Reddy said that Rs. 5 lakh to Rs. 10 lakh has been spent on development of tourism spots in each one of the ten Assembly segments. An amount of Rs. 10 lakh has been allocated to the backward Narayankhed segment. She then directed the Tourism Department to construct a compound wall around the amenity. The wayside amenity which was built at a cost of Rs. 70 lakh .
