DDA accused of delaying work
Staff Reporter
NEW DELHI: While the Delhi Development Authority has made the Union Urban Development Ministry draw flak from the Opposition parties for not submitting before the Supreme Court its plans on how it aims to provide various services and basic amenities in unauthorised colonies that are proposed to be regularised, now it has also come under attack from Delhi Finance Minister A. K. Walia for not allotting plots for various developmental activities.
The Minister on Tuesday said he would seek intervention of Lieutenant-Governor and DDA Chairman Tejendra Khanna on the issue of allotment of plots for various developmental schemes for which the Planning Department of DDA has already given its assent.
Charging that other departments of DDA have been sleeping over important proposals for the past many months, Dr. Walia said due to such a lackadaisical attitude the development of Delhi was suffering. The projects that have got delayed due to DDA include land for a community hall at 10 Block in Geeta Colony; additional land for a burial ground at Khureji; a dispensary at New Lahore in Shastri Nagar; and land for development of various DDA parks.
