Collector’s directive to farmers
Staff Reporter
Krishnagiri: Collector Santhosh Babu has appealed to the farmers not to operate motor pumps during peak hours (between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m.) to facilitate Tamil Nadu Electricity Board to supply power to all the households in the district without any interruption.
In a statement issued here on Wednesday, the Collector said that the board was supplying power to farmers in different parts of the district to operate motor pumps in three shifts (6 a.m. to 12 noon; 12 noon to 6 p.m.; and 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.).
The board was facing problems in providing uninterrupted supply during peak hours as farmers were operating pumps between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. too, the statement added.
This had affected students, who were preparing for examinations, and the public. The Collector also asked the farmers to install quality products and energy-efficient pumps to conserve electricity.
