Induction of new leaders said to strengthen party ‘BJP had ensured greater welfare of minorities’
Inauguration: Bharatiya Janata Party national working committee member Arvind Limbavali inaugurating a booth-level meeting of party activists in Chitradurga on Wednesday. Chitradurga: Bharatiya Janata Party National Working Committee member Arvind Limbavali has expressed “gratitude” to Janata Dal (Secular) supremo H.D. Deve Gowda for “strengthening” the party in the State. Speaking after inaugurating a booth-level meeting of party activists here on Wednesday, he said had the JD(S) not withdrawn support to the Government and denied power to the BJP, the party would not have gained much strength in the State. He expressed confidence that the BJP would win the coming elections in the State. He alleged that the Congress was trying to delay the polls on the pretext of delimiting constituencies. “The Congress has been demanding this for sheer fear of losing the elections. The BJP will still win the polls, even if the elections are delayed or held after delimitation,” he said.Mr. Limbavali said that the BJP was strengthening its base with the induction of several leaders from other parties. He said that since the Congress did not have the strength to contest the elections, it had promised loans to farmers at an interest rate of 3 per cent and unemployment allowance to the youth. “If the party had real concern for the people, it should have taken such steps when in power. These promises are only election gimmicks,” he said. Replying to allegations that the BJP was a communal party, he said the party, under the leadership of the former Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa, had released more funds for the welfare of minorities than the Congress. VotersHe advised party activists to ensure that all persons above 18 years of age were enlisted as voters and see to it that the names of ineligible people were removed.
