69,400 houses under Rajiv Swagruha
HYDERABAD: The State Government has laid down a road map for building 69,400 houses at a cost of Rs. 12,800 crores under the Rajiv Swagruha scheme for the middle classes.
Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy on Wednesday directed officials to evolve a special maintenance mechanism to ensure quality constructions. Housing Minister Botcha Satyanarayana was asked to put in force special quality maintenance mechanism in 35 townships.
The officials were directed to hold dialogue with nationalised banks to provide housing loans at lower interest rates besides negotiating on waiver of processing fees. He wanted the Collectors to hand over land acquired for the scheme to the project authorities with immediate effect. AP Rajiv Swagruha Corporation Limited managing director Shalini Mishra said a special single window clearance system has been evolved for the scheme.
The Government has decided to rope in village organisations to take up construction of houses under Indiramma in the areas where works had not been taken up by beneficiaries so far. An amount, not exceeding Rs. 750, would be paid in advance to village organisations that come forward to take up construction.
A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of the Group of Ministers headed by Finance Minister K. Rosaiah here on Wednesday.
