Speaker to submit resolutions to BAC of the Assembly

Socially relevant debates, decisions in House favoured

HYDERABAD: Speaker K. R. Suresh Reddy has said that the anguish and concern expressed by freedom fighters, intellectuals and others over the functioning of the House should be an eye opener for the members.

Appreciating the efforts made by BJP legislator G. Kishan Reddy in organising a convention last week to discuss the functioning of the Assembly, the Speaker told reporters here on Wednesday that the members should rise to the occasion and heed to the advice of veterans and ensure smooth functioning of the House.

Resolution

The Speaker said that he would place the resolutions submitted by a delegation of the freedom fighters and others before the Business Advisory Committee of the Assembly for consideration. He said the session should debate and take decisions that are socially relevant.

Mr. Kishan Reddy said the convention passed a resolution urging the Governor, Speaker and Council chairman to interact with the members and impress upon them the need for exemplary conduct worthy of emulation by all citizens.

The 16-member delegation included: Narra Madhava Rao, N. Shanker Rao, M. Satyanarayana B. Beerappa, B. Seetharamaiah and Narayan Rao Pawar, all freedom fighters and others.

The Speaker said the budget session of the Assembly would begin on February 11 with the Governor’s address to the joint session of the Assembly and Council.
